Welcome to Five Star Online

learning remotely

Five Star Online is designed to provide continued flexibility for families with COVID-19 related concerns and offer the most robust online learning opportunity for our students.

Adams 12 Five Star Schools operates this program at the district level. Principal Adria Moersen and Assistant Principal Rebecca Turner, along with their team of dedicated online educators, are committed to providing the best learning experience possible for online students.  Five Star Online also has supports just for online students, such as school counselors and learning specialists.

In addition, students will be able to stay connected with their neighborhood school by participating in extracurricular activities and athletics. Seniors will graduate from their home high school in the Spring of 2022.

Students enrolled in Five Star Online for the 2021-2022 school year will keep their spot at their current brick and mortar school if they wish to return to in-person learning for the 2022-2023 school year.  **Students enrolled at Charter or Options schools should contact their school's administration to determine whether or not a spot will be held.**

Gifted and Talented Testing for 6th and 7th Graders

Gifted and Talented Testing for 6th and 7th Graders

Date & Time: Tue, 12/07/2021 - 7:45am to 4:00pm

6th and 7th grade students will soon be given the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) as part of the Universal Screening process for Gifted and Talented. The assessment will be given to all 6th grade students who are not identified as gifted and talented AND all 7th grade students who are not identified as gifted and talented and did not take the assessment last year due to the pandemic. It is one of the many measures that can be used as a part of a larger body of evidence to identify students as gifted/talented (GT). The CogAT measures reasoning and problem-solving skills in three different areas:  verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal. The CogAT does not measure factors such as effort, attention, motivation, and work habits.

The CogAT test will be administered on Tuesday, December 7th.

You do not need to do anything special to prepare your student for this test, other than ensure they are well-rested and well-fed on testing day so they can show their best thinking.  Please see the attached Q&A document which may help answer any questions.  Per the district student code of conduct (Policy 5000), all student work should be their own; students should not give or receive any assistance on this test. Any attempt to do so is scholastic dishonesty.  For this test, cameras and microphones are required to be turned on for active proctoring.

All students will be sent the zoom link via email in order to access their testing session.

7th Grade Students with Last Names A - L will test during 1st & 2nd period

7th Grade Students with Last Names M - Z will test during 3rd & 4th period

ALL 6th Grade Students will test during 6th & 7th period

Students who take the test will be marked present for those periods. If you have any questions concerning this assessment, please contact the Gifted and Talented Coordinator at your child’s school.
