FSOA Secondary Updates: 2/16/24

FSOA Secondary Updates: 2/16/24

**This communication is for students in grades 6-12.  Information for our elementary students will be in a separate email.*

Dear FSOA Parents/Guardians and Students,

Thanks for spending time with us this past week, connecting at both virtual and in-person conferences!  We appreciate your trust in us and appreciate your continued partnership.

Please see important updates for this week below.

Panorama Survey

The annual Family-School Relationships Survey closes today! The survey is open now through Feb. 16. It’s easy and provides great feedback to know where schools are succeeding and where they can improve.

Save the Date: Pi Night!

  • On Thursday, March 14th from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, we are hosting our first ever "Pi" Night to celebrate Math!  (in math, Pi = 3.14, so we celebrate on March 14th).

  • We plan to have Pizzas and Dessert Pies available for families while we host GAME NIGHT!  The games will involve math or numbers and will be designed for all ages.

  • To help our event be successful, we are asking for volunteers to donate pies for other families to enjoy that evening.  The donated pies can be homemade or store-bought. Sign-up here if you are interested!

Food at Learning Lab and Peer Engagement

  • As students attend in-person activities such as learning lab and peer engagement, please remind them to pack snack items (and lunch items if applicable).

  •  Occasionally we are able to provide snacks, however, this is not always the case. In cases where snacks are available, students will be limited to one food item and one drink item (milk, juice) per day, so that we share with others.   Please plan ahead!

Changes Coming to Web Filtering on Student Devices

  • Starting Monday, Feb. 26, there will be a significant update to the web filtering on student devices within our district.

  • The district currently has two tiers of web filtering on student devices. During school hours, browsing is limited to educational content, but allows for more relaxed browsing capabilities after school. This includes access to more websites, including some social media platforms.

  • Starting on Feb. 26, the stricter web filtering will extend beyond school hours. This means that student devices will only be able to access educational content, even after school hours.
