FSOA: Elementary Parent Communication - 8/16/2024

**This communication is for students in grades 4-5.  Information for our secondary students will be in a separate email.*

Dear FSOA Parents/Guardians and Students, 

Elementary Assessment Day- Wednesday August 28

Wednesday, August 28, 2024 is FSOA’s Elementary Assessment Day. At this time, our most accurate testing is formatted for in-person administration.  This means we are requesting that your child(ren) come in-person for Wednesday, August 28th in order to complete these assessments. 

All students should arrive at FSOA at 8:00 AM. All assessments will be closed by 12:00 (noon). Students will start with a morning snack and then begin testing. Please note these are the same start and stop times as peer engagement.

On assessment day, there will be no in-person or virtual engagement. The regular daily schedule will resume on Thursday, August 29th.  For these in-person assessments, we will be utilizing space in our building.

Each student should bring the following materials:

• Charged District Chromebook and Headphones
• 2 Sharpened Pencils
• Water bottle (no colored juice/beverages) and snack, if desired

Looking Ahead to Wednesday September 4th

• On Wednesday, September 4th, FSOA will be running a TUESDAY schedule. 
  • This shift is to ensure a consistent learning experience for students that week, as students have no school on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Students will follow a TUESDAY schedule and should log into their homeroom class by 8:00. 
  • There will be no Peer Engagement this date. 

Mark Your Calendars + Attend the Meeting

• Additional funding is needed to address the priorities outlined in Blueprint, and the district may ultimately ask voters to decide on how best to fund them. 
• Join us at the upcoming board meeting where the Board of Education is scheduled to vote on whether to place the $830 million bond proposal and/or the $34.5 million mill levy override proposal on the November ballot. 
  • When: August 28 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Where: Educational Support Center, 1500 E. 128th Ave. in Thornton
  • Why: Listen and/or provide public comment
