FSOA 11/4 Secondary Parent Communication

**This communication is for students in grades 6-12. Information for elementary students will be in a separate email.**

Middle School Advisory Change

After receiving feedback from our students, families, and teachers, we are making a schedule change for our middle schoolers.
Beginning the week of November 7th, advisory will now take place in a core content class on Thursday.

Advisory will take place during a different content each week (e.g., English will host advisory the first week, Math will host advisory the second week, etc.).

Period 4 will be from 10:37-11:32 and Period 5 will be from 11:37-12:32. This is the same as the high school bell schedule.
High School advisory courses are not impacted and will continue as currently scheduled.

Student IDs

As a reminder, student IDs are required for in-person opportunities such as peer engagement, learning labs, and field trips.
If students do not have one, they can come into our main office at any time to have their picture taken and get an ID. Please contact our office manager, Nikela Lyke, nikela.lyke@adams12.org, with any questions.

FSOA Parent/Guardian Academy

We know you want to help your student(s) to thrive! And Five Star Online Academy (FSOA) wants to be your partner!

We are excited to invite you to our first FSOA Parent/Guardian Academy night. During our time together, we will support families with Edmentum's Sensei portal account, review attendance procedures for both synchronous and asynchronous days, and create time for individuals to ask questions and get answers. Scholastic Book Fair

Ready, set, SHOP! Our Virtual Book Fair is now open. Empower your kids by letting them browse and choose books to stock your home library at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/fivestaronline

There are also a couple of ways to support our amazing teachers here at FSOA! Many of our teachers have made a Wish List and an eWallet account. You can check out the Wish List in the link here. If you wish to do so, you can purchase a book for one of the teachers and bring it to the office when it arrives at your house. You can also donate to a teacher’s eWallet fund. Any amount helps support our school! If you purchase a book on a teacher’s wish list, please send a quick message to Ms. Chase to let her know at cha022470@adams12.org.

Final Exam Schedule/Last Week of Semester

All students in grades 6-12 will have a culminating paper, project, or test in each course.
Teachers will be proctoring these finals synchronously on December 13th and 14th (Tuesday and Wednesday).
