Secondary Orientation, Back to School Night and First Day of Classes 8/13/22

 

 

Dear Families, 

We are excited to meet you over the next few days as we launch the 2022 - 2023 school year.   Please see information about our orientation, back-to-school night, and first day of school below.

Please note that this information is specific to secondary students in grades 6-12  only; if you have students in grades 2-5, you received a separate email yesterday about their start of the year.  

 

Monday, August 15th: Orientation for NEW Secondary Students

  • Who:  Students in Grade 6-12 who are new to Five Star Online; parents are welcome to join as well. Returning students are also welcome if they’d like to get a head start on the year.  
  • What:  An open-house event designed for a successful start to the year! 
    • Check-In and Schedules
    • Preparing for the First Day
    • Meeting Teachers  
    • School photos  
    • Chromebook exchange (if needed) or Chromebook pick-up (for new students to Adams 12)
  • Where: The Adams 12 Educational Support Center, 1500 E 128th Ave Thornton, CO 80241
  • When:  Monday, August 15th from 12:30-3:30pm.  New Format:  Based on feedback from families, we adjusted this to a drop-in style event.  Please come anytime between 12:30 - 3:30 and plan to stay approximately 1 hour.  
  • To Bring:  Please bring your charged district Chromebook to this event.  If you are new to Adams 12, we will check one out to you to use for the year. 

 

Tuesday, August 16th:  Required Virtual Orientation for All Secondary Students

  • Preparation Check-List

    • A copy of your schedule.  Schedules can be found in Infinite Campus. 
  • On Tuesday, August 16th all students in grades 6-12 will join for a virtual orientation.

      • Period 5: 11:00 - 11:25
      • Period 6:  11:30 - 11:55
      • Period 7:  12:00 - 12:25
      • Period 8:  12:30 - 1:00 

 

Tuesday, August 16th:  Back to School Night

  • Students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and pick up supplies. 
  • We will also be taking pictures and distributing student IDs.  Student IDs are required for all students.  
  • This will be an open-house format; please join us anytime from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 17th:  First Day of Classes for Secondary Students

 


 

School Supply List

  • Please access our school supply list here
  • We will be providing additional art supplies for some classes at our orientation.  Please create a space for these items (a bucket, bin, or desk) so that items do not get lost. Students will be responsible for these materials for the duration of the year.

Chromebook Information 

  • If you checked out a chromebook at a school last year, you will continue to use that chromebook this school year. 
  • If you are having issues with your current chromebook, please bring it to Back to School Orientation so that you can exchange your chromebook.  
  • We will be checking out new chromebooks to students at this event to those students who may not have received one last year or who are new to our district.
