FSOA: Elementary Parent Communication 2/28/2025

*This communication is for students in grades 4-5.  Information for our secondary students will be in a separate email.*

Dear FSOA Parents/Guardians and Students,

We hope everyone enjoyed their Mid-Winter Break!   Please see important updates for this week below.

Best,

Adria Moersen Lamb, Principal

Award Spotlight

  • Each year, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) recognizes teachers who are excelling in the field of computer science. This year, Cassandra Bryning, our business technology teacher, was one of only three teachers to receive an Honorable Mention for the Colorado Aspiration in Computing Educator Award. Congratulations, Mrs. Bryning!

Panorama Survey

  • A huge thank you to our community for your participation in the recent Parent Survey. This year, our total family response rate was 20.99%, which represented a 40% increase in the number of families who completed the survey compared to last year. This information is invaluable as we continue to determine how to best support our students and partner with our families.
  • Survey results are scheduled to be shared with our community after Spring Break.

Skate City Fundraiser

  • Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 4th, from 5:00-7:00 PM, for our Skate City Fundraiser in Westminster (200 W. 121st St.).
  • Admission is just $7—bring your own skates or rent a pair for $5.

Donuts With Grownups

  • You're invited to Donuts with Grownups on Wednesday, March 5th at 8:00! Parents, guardians, and other important adults in your child's life are invited to join us for a morning treat of donuts, coffee, and conversation. It’s a great way to build relationships, stay engaged with the school, and start the day on a positive note!
  • Please note that this is for elementary students / their grownups only.
  • Check out this flyer for more information (English / Spanish).

Counted Out: Math is Power

  • Join other families from across the district on Thursday, March 13th for a free, special screening of the documentary “Counted Out: Math is Power.” This film focuses on critical issues in math education and their impact on our students' learning experiences. This insightful film delves into the disparities in math education and highlights the importance of equitable access to resources and support for all learners. For more information check out the film’s trailer and the district’s informational flyer
