Dear FSOA Parents/Guardians and Students, 

As a reminder, we have an adjusted schedule for next week.   Please see details and additional important updates below.

Adjusted Schedule - Wednesday, March 19th

• Thursday, March 20th is now a Teacher Workday.
• Students will have synchronous classes on Wednesday, March 19th following their THURSDAY schedule. Any class that typically meets on Thursdays will meet next week on Wednesday.  
• Students’ asynchronous work will be due as regularly scheduled.  
• If students have pre-scheduled appointments that they cannot miss on Wednesday, please call our main office at 720-972-7430 to excuse their attendance. 

Budget Update

• Colorado’s governor is proposing cutting our district’s funding by $13.2 million next year. This would force us to face the most difficult budgeting year since the Great Recession. A cut of that magnitude would mean larger class sizes, less academic and mental health support for students, fewer academic and extracurricular activities for students here and across the state. It's not too late to find a reasonable funding solution for Colorado's schools for next year. If you find the points made here concerning, please reach out to your state legislators and the governor to share your thoughts about the proposed funding plan. Here is a short letter you can quickly and easily send. Please feel free to add your personal perspective and experience as a parent, student or staff member.

Upcoming State Testing

• Let’s show PHOENIX PRIDE for our school!   In the month of April, our students will participate in PSAT, SAT, MAP and/or CMAS depending on grade level.
• Please mark your calendars with our testing dates. These dates can be found on our important dates calendars (English / Spanish)
• Action Required for High School Students and Parents (Grade 9-11): 
  • Please review these letters for additional information about the PSAT and SAT.   
    • SAT/CMAS Science (grade 11)
    • PSAT (grades 9 and 10)
  • Additionally, please complete this survey by Friday, March 21st to let us know if you’d prefer a morning or afternoon testing session.  

Five Star 5K

• Join us for this year’s Five Star 5K and Wellness Festival on Saturday, April 26 at Riverdale Regional Park. The festivities begin at 8am. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering someone on, it’s the perfect event for all ages!

Yearbook Pre-Order Deadline

• There are only 17 days left to pre-order the yearbook and get the glow in the dark cover! Order online before April 1 here.

#For students to be able to go on a field trip, they need to fill out the Intent to Participate form to reserve their spot.  Students receive an email after the form closes confirming their spot on the field trip. No walk-on spots available.
